Who is valentina mayer

After working for large firms for a few years, I’m happy and lucky to be able to work as an independent attorney between Rome and Berlin advising independent filmmakers, creators and entrepreneurs coming all over Europe and beyond.

I am a natural-nomad lawyer and on a normal working day, depending on my schedule, you can find me either in my firm in the heart of Trastevere, Rome, in Berlin, at the Factory Berlin Görlitzer Park both a co-working space and a community of innovators or somewhere else: I am always connected and available to schedule a call or a meeting.

I work in close partnership with my clients and I travel often to see them at meetings, film festivals or markets, conferences etc. bringing clarity on their legal rights and obligations and advising them with the goal of achieving the best strategic and commercial outcome.

Mayer Lex is my law e-office, a next-generation solo law firm focused on the needs of creative businesses and individuals. With the help of a network of other experienced lawyers and professionals, I take an informed, tech-savvy approach to working with my clients on a wide range of legal matters.

WHY CHOOSING MAYER LEX

My goal is to redesign the law firm experience from the ground up, while helping my clients grow successful businesses.

Media, entertainment and digital are the most colorful areas of law. You need devotion to the art so that you can have devotion to this field… and I am devoted to my job because it brings me some very talented, interesting and cool clients. I pursued this field because of my respect for the art they create.

If you choose Mayer Lex you choose a lawyer who appreciates and respects the work of an artist, but at the same time is firmly connected to the business surrounding the creative world and is able to guide you through the legal technicalities needed to give your creations the value they deserve.

History

I’m admitted to practice in Italy and I am a member of the Bar Association in Italy since 2004. I am also a member of the European Women Lawyers Association. I went to Bologna University (J.D.) where I graduated magna cum laude and to the University of Nijmegen (The Netherlands) where I got an LL.M. in European Business Law. I have also completed a European Master in Audiovisual Management in Rome.

My professional career initially took place in Brussels working in law firms specialized in EU law and then in Rome and Milan where I worked as legal counsel in the media industry. Even if I have always worked as external lawyer, I managed to establish long term relationships with some of my clients, acting as a de facto in-house counsel, being exposed to the whole range of legal issues arising in an international business environment and experiencing a direct relationship with all different departments of a media company. I advise regularly Italian TV and film production companies, such as Lux Vide S.p.A., I provide legal advice to International television operators, to multimedia retailers active both as e-commerce operator and TV channel, as Discovery Italia and QVC Italia and to prestigious film festivals and markets, such as Rome Film Fest and MIA.

In addition to my experience in media and entertainment, I have been working for over 15 years as legal expert for Your Europe Advice, a service offered by the European Commission to European citizens and enterprises, providing legal advice on EU law and participating actively in the organization of training and communication activities related to the service.

I am also a Polestar Pilates instructor (matwork) and I have been teaching pilates in studios based in Milan.
